Power Yoga: Extended practice with Lawrence
10th November | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm£18
‘The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.’ – EinsteinThis extended practice series is really a chance to delve a little deeper in what we think constitutes a yoga practice.
In yoga we often place an unnecessarily high value on aesthetic, we fall for the ‘I know this pose should look this way because I’ve seen it in a book’ trap or the ‘I go to yoga so I must dress this way and lead this lifestyle’ trap so often that we endlessly explore new avenues with the next ‘thing’ to follow, workshops that boast to know the ‘right’ way or yoga clothes and mats that are sure to give us more ‘freedom’.
These are all attachments that we tether to yoga and are wildly unhelpful. In the pursuit for this endless knowledge and perfection we have forgotten one of the most important qualities of ourselves, intuition, the thing that Einstein called ‘the gift’, I heard somewhere he was relatively smart.
What this class isn’t is 2 hours of your usual dynamic movement intended to leave you exhausted and depleted, instead we’ll journey on a long, slow and steady stroll through the mechanics of your body with a stronger emphasis on confronting the qualities of the mind.
The inspiration for these longer sessions comes from the way I began practicing yoga nearly 10 years ago, which was always on a Sunday evening and always around the 2 hour mark.
What that time gave me was space to explore, without rushing, at my own pace, at a safe and approachable manner.
Yoga isn’t a product to be sold, or a currency to barter with, for me it is the practice of refining simplicity, rather than deepening complexity.
These sunday evening sessions are here for you to confront the BS and shed it, delve deep into your own journey and discover a path to your own truth.
