winter zen

By mid February most of us are feeling the effects of the cold and dark, the good news is that over the centuries zen has created specific, practical, effective approaches to enhance vitality over winter. In this 2 hour workshop we’ll use movement, meditation, breathing and body work to explore two of these approaches:

  • Grounding – techniques that create and maintain a stable, secure, resilient and healthy state of mind and body, as opposed to being wired, frazzled, on edge, unbalanced, run down and being hit by every cold and bug going; and
  • Unblocking the body’s natural seasonal energy system, currently in the cold and dark of winter – techniques which bring our mind and body more in tune and in flow with the natural world which still affects us so much despite our modern 24-hour-a-day 365-day-a-year always-on lifestyles.

There will be plenty of time for experiencing and discussing these approaches, with a focus on how to apply them specifically to your life as we see out the winter in style. No previous experience of anything required. We will be working with the grounding approaches of zen master Hakuin and the daoist meridian system.
